Active Physical Therapy Participates in Local Community Activities Throughout the UP This Summer!

Active is not just our name, it’s in our culture.  We love to be physically active, and it shows by our participation in local athletic events.  Below is a summary some of our employees and their family members helping others Get Active, Be Active and Stay Active!

Community Events:

U.P. Pink Power Walk – Employees from Marquette and Ishpeming walked in support of the U.P. Pink Power Walk which benefits local businesses in need of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).  Over $20,000 was raised!

NMU Rural Health Careers Camp – Active Marquette’s Ryan Lowery presented to a group of high school students on the career options which are available to those who are interested in a pursuing a career in Physical Therapy.

Big Bay Relay – Active Employees participated in a “trail sweep” at the end of the race to ensure all participants had finished safely.

UP Football All Star Game – Active’s world-class Athletic Trainers provided on-site care all week for the athletes of the UP Football All Star game.  This included practices and the game.

Kiwanis Golf Outing – Active’s Dave Aro, Kip Hartman, Beth Stanchina and Ryan Lowery had a lot of fun on the course in this year’s Kiwanis Golf outing!  All proceeds went to benefit Bay Cliff Health Camp!

Marquette Trails Festival – This event attracted mountain bikers and trail runners from all over!  Active was proud to provide on-site services to athletes.

Pioneer Days Parade – Active employees and their families walked in the parade, handing out candy and t-shirts to the kids (and parents!).

Teal Lake Swim – Active Employees manned the registration booth at this year’s Teal Lake swim to benefit diabetes.  It was a great event and lots of fun was had in the sun!

Science on Tap: Your Brain on Pain – Active Third Street’s Kyle Aho teamed up with Liz Peppin, PA-C of Marquette Internal Medicine Specialists to present an hour-long discussion about chronic pain.  It was at the Ore Dock Brewing Company and was a tremendous success!  As you can see by the picture here, there was standing room only!

NMU Fall Fest – The first day of classes at NMU is always an exciting day!  Active Marquette’s Ryan Lowery attended the event and provided free injury screenings to students, staff and other participants!

Marquette Marathon – Active served as a proud sponsor and vendor for the Marquette Marathon!

Community Partnerships:

This summer, Active was very excited to partner with a couple of local businesses to provide free injury screenings to clients at Queen City Running Company and Anytime Fitness in (Gwinn).  Marquette’s Kyle Aho and Ryan Lowery had a lot of fun this summer providing great services to Marquette’s local active population.
